Blue Hues

Blue is the color of the ocean and sky. It calms and soothes. When it’s bright like it is in this week’s windows- it can be absolutely exhilarating!

Our latest window vignettes feature vibrant blue blooming Phalaenopsis orchid plants and tall cylinders of matching water. Passerby cannot help but steal a glance at this soothing yet energizing scene.

Beautiful like Beyonce

Glowing mom-to-be, Beyonce, was at Macy’s Herald Square earlier this week promoting her newest fragrance, Pulse. Flowers of the World got to be a part of that special appearance as we designed a gorgeous cascading white Phalaenopsis Orchid arrangement that matched Beyonce’s feathered flowing gown from Lanvin’s Resort 2012 gown perfectly!

Thinking Pink!

This week’s forecast in New York called for gloomy weather but we have turned that idea on its head and filled our windows with bright pink drops! One of our favorite flowers, Cymbidium Orchids, are shown in a lush pink hue  in suspended teardrop-shaped vases. Larger teardrop shapes float in the air. We may be wearing our rose-colored glasses but the whimsical and feminine shapes instantly brighten up our cloudy day!

We will Always Remember…

This year’s 9/11 memorials held a special place in our hearts, as it was the tenth anniversary of the day the towers fell. Each year, we are often asked to design decor for memorials around Manhattan for those who were lost. A memorial dinner at Harbor Lights Restaurant in the South Street Seaport remembered a man who was very special to many. Flowers of the World created a simple elegant, yet patriotic event scape with white and bright blue Hydrangea, twisted Calla Lilies, Blue Delphinium, Green Trick Carnations and Calathea leaves.

We were honored to be a part of this celebration of this individual’s life as well as all of those lost on 9/11. Although they are gone, they are never forgotten.

Cool and Contemporary

We love a wedding that exudes romance with a little bit of drama. This past weekend’s wedding of Merissa and Aurelio at Espace in New York City was just that. Our Director of Special Events, Lauren Romao, created the couple’s wedding fantasy with beautiful Laurel branches and delicate white Dendrobium Orchids in tall cylinders accented by hanging white candles. Floating globes of Hydrangea hung from the ceiling as a cool blue light was cast around the contemporary space.

Congratulations Merissa and Aurelio! So glad FOTW was a part of your special evening!
