This week’s forecast in New York called for gloomy weather but we have turned that idea on its head and filled our windows with bright pink drops! One of our favorite flowers, Cymbidium Orchids, are shown in a lush pink hue in suspended teardrop-shaped vases. Larger teardrop shapes float in the air. We may be wearing our rose-colored glasses but the whimsical and feminine shapes instantly brighten up our cloudy day!

Flowers of the World is very proud to be apart of the 91111 Moving Forward Photo Art Contest for Kids. Children around New York City were asked to capture their view of our great city moving forward post 9/11. And now children between the ages of 8-14 are encouraged to vote for their favorite pictures by visiting www.notestrokes.com in the coming week.
Our downtown windows at 110 Maiden Lane feature two glowing towers representing the fallen World Trade Center as well as the childrens’ photos of the new buildings rising up.
FOTW’s downtown studio began in those towers so it is especially near and dear to our hearts that their memory and the memories of those lost never be forgotten. The 91111 Moving Forward Photo Art Contest is also featured in a video playing in our studio. We encourage guests to visit to experience this moving tribute to a city that is moving forward but will never forget.
We hope everyone had a long and luxurious Labor Day Weekend! Back at FOTW- our latest windows are sunny and cheery despite the gloomy weather outside. Bright yellow twisted Calla Lilies sit inside chic martini glasses reminding us of sumptuous summer cocktails. We think a toast is a wonderful way to “send off the summer!”
Cheers!
Take flight with Flowers of the World! This week’s window is inspired by sleek white paper airplanes floating through the blue sky and white clouds made of gorgeous Phalaenopsis Orchids. The architectural lines of the airplanes are set off by the graceful and organic shapes of the beautiful orchids, one of our favorite flowers at FOTW.

At Flowers of the World, one of our design philosophies has always been that one type of flower set dramatically in the right vase can have a very strong and beautiful impact. This week’s window with sunset-colored Mango Calla Lilies reclining in tall sleek cylinders is a perfect example. We love the clean and masculine lines of the cylinders off set by the striking feminine callas. The contemporary fluidity of the design inspires us!
