As the days get longer and the weather gets warmer in New York City, we are thinking about springtime and all the flowers blooming. Our current window features dramatic white French tulips reclining in tall elegant clear cylinders wrapped with vibrant Calathea leaves. It must be that New Yorkers are just as excited about spring, as we are, because many stop to enjoy the view.
Flowers of the World was honored to take part in GMHC’s fourth annual culinary gala, SAVOR, at Gotham Hall this week. The fundraiser honored Joan Tisch, who received the inaugural Judith Peabody Humanitarian Award. SAVOR spotlights the important role of the food and nutrition program at GMHC, one of the few AIDS service organizations in New York to offer hunger relief services as part of its array of care services.
Flowers of World designed a breathtaking scene that featured flowering quince branches with contemporary phalaenopsis orchids around the perimeter of the room and trios of viburnum bouquets, cascading phalaenopsis and green and white parrot tulips in the center. Swirling lily grass inside each pedestal cylinder completed the look on green apple table linens with floating candles.
Flowers of the World also participated in the silent auction offering the gift of Flowers for a Year. One lucky winner took home our beautiful blooms showcased in a modern and chic Jonathan Adler tall vase.
Spring finally arrives tomorrow, and Flowers of the World has Spring Fever! To celebrate the change of seasons, and thank our customers old and new, we’re giving away gorgeous Spring Bouquets at both of our beautiful boutiques! Take a Spring Break and head to either our midtown shop at 150 W. 55th Street, or our downtown location at 110 Maiden Lane, to pick up your Spring Bouquet of parrot tulips during the week of March 20 through March 26.*
