In our second round of exclusive Gilt City workshops, this past Tuesday, twenty-five eager guests came to Flowers of the World’s downtown studio to learn how to create their own breathtaking summer arrangements. Sara and Andrea taught our guests how to work with vibrant summery shades, tropical leaves and even exotic ginger sticks. Guests learned how to process and condition their blooms to maintain their quality and lifespan and our talented workshop helpers Lauren and Colin assisted guests throughout the design process.

Of course, Rebecca, from Ron Ben-Israel Cakes, spoiled us by bringing a Peach cobbler cake with alternating layers of Cinnamon Pecan & Vanilla Bean Buttercreams decorated with the most gorgeous sugar flowers in honor of our workshop.

We had so much fun at last night’s Flower Workshop, Fashion-Forward Floral Design. Twenty plus guests learned some of the secrets of the floral design trade in selecting flowers, processing/conditioning and caring for floral arrangements. Sara and Shane, who led the workshop, taught the guests to incorporate this season’s hottest fashion trends into their designs while designers, Christina and Jacob, helped on the floor. The sweetest treat of the evening was from our good friend, Rebecca, from Ron Ben-Israel Cakes who brought scrumptious candy bar flavored mini cake bites for all to enjoy!

We had such a wonderful Saturday afternoon sharing the Peninsula’s classic tea and a Mother’s Day Flower Workshop with 26 very excited Moms, Daughters, Grandmothers, Godmothers, Nieces, and Aunts. Before the workshop, guests enjoyed a delicious array of treats including an amazing cake generously donated by our absolute favorite- Ron-Ben Israel Cakes.

Our very talented budding “floral designers” learned the tricks of our trade from Sara and our design team to create their own Mother’s Day masterpieces.  Check out a few of the photos we snapped during the lovely afternoon!

We hope you will join us next year!

Editorial Designs

When New York City’s bridal editors speak, Flowers of the World listens — after all, they have unfettered access to the thoughts and desires of all of our beautiful brides. This week, though, roles were reversed; the weddings press listened closely as Flowers of the World staged a “Bridal Bouquet Flower Workshop” in the stunning SoHi room at the Trump Soho Hotel.

The workshop was part of a larger event for wedding-industry insiders, and included some of our favorite partners: invitations by Alpine Creative Group, music by Star Talent, henna tattoos by Trump Soho’s spa expert Akiyo Ogura and delicious sweets by Ron Ben-Israel Cakes, whose sugar-coated peonies could have been mistaken for the real thing — even by Flowers of the World! Check out the photos below, compliments of the event’s fantastic photographer, Hechler Photographers.

Sexy in SoHi

If October is the new June for weddings, than white is the new pink; Arianna and Richard’s gorgeous wedding at the Trump Soho, in the incredible 46th Floor SoHi room, featured an anything-but blank canvas. Flowers of the World’s event designer Yena used a combination of white hydrangea, calla lilies and cymbidium orchids, the latter of which she wound around wire, and submerged in the couple’s glowing centerpieces. For hints of color, dramatic red blooms covered the cocktail hour and escort table, while a blue glow emanated from SoHi’s architectural ceiling. Check out the photos below, and take note of the amazing lily-covered cake, created by FOTW’s favorite wedding cake guru, Ron Ben-Israel.
