Category: Hydrangea

Last week Flowers of the World was proud to join forces for a great cause, with the Children’s Cancer Blood Foundation, for their annual “Breakthrough Ball” benefit gala. For the event, which took place at The Plaza, FOTW created a gorgeous seasonal setup of antique hydrangea, bright Protea, burnt orange Roses and Orchids, and mango Calla Lilies, mixed with swirling Lily grass and glowing raspberry votive candles. The display lit up the room for an unforgettable evening!

Heard it through the Grapevine

If you are dreaming of wandering through a vineyard on a cool autumn weekend, our latest windows will take you there. Lush purple Hydrangea with Magnolia leaves and branches remind us of the idyllic tranquility of enchanted grapevines.

Our workshops are back in full swing at Flowers of the World! We had a great time with all of our guests on Tuesday night at our “Fall Flowers” themed-workshop.  Many Gilt City guests joined us for the first of our Fall 2011 series. Sara, our GM, and our talented team of designers taught guests how to create their own fall floral design masterpieces. We worked with seasonal favorites such as Brassica and Amaryllis, as well as FOTW faves, such as Pincushion Protea, Calla Lilies, and Hydrangea in deep rich autumnal hues.

Our next workshop is a Level II, for more advanced guests, on Tuesday, November 8, from 6:30pm-8:30pm at our 110 Maiden Lane Studio.

Sail away with me…

Our latest windows are inspired by a spring day in the Hamptons.  A wooden dock flanks the bottom of the scene and reclining vibrant blue hydrangea sit on wooden pedestals with nautical rope wrapped around them. Rope sits on the dock to imply that a happy sailor has just left the dock for a mid-afternoon sail out to sea.

This past Saturday evening we were very excited to design the decor for the wedding of lovely couple, Lyubov and Edward. The pair were married at the beautiful Grace Church, a 150-plus year old church in downtown Manhattan.

After the wedding bells rang, the couple headed to the Ritz-Carlton Battery Park with their friends and family for an elegant reception.  The gorgeous spring weather was the perfect backdrop for cocktails overlooking the harbor. Lauren Romao and the creative FOTW team designed chic cocktail arrangements of white tulips twisting in cylinders. For the dinner and dancing portion of the evening, FOTW designed a contemporary display of mixed purple hydrangea, twisting cream calla lilies and classic ivory roses. Varying height cylinders accented by floating lavender candles helped set the romantic mood.
