In our second round of exclusive Gilt City workshops, this past Tuesday, twenty-five eager guests came to Flowers of the World’s downtown studio to learn how to create their own breathtaking summer arrangements. Sara and Andrea taught our guests how to work with vibrant summery shades, tropical leaves and even exotic ginger sticks. Guests learned how to process and condition their blooms to maintain their quality and lifespan and our talented workshop helpers Lauren and Colin assisted guests throughout the design process.

Of course, Rebecca, from Ron Ben-Israel Cakes, spoiled us by bringing a Peach cobbler cake with alternating layers of Cinnamon Pecan & Vanilla Bean Buttercreams decorated with the most gorgeous sugar flowers in honor of our workshop.

We had so much fun at last night’s Flower Workshop, Fashion-Forward Floral Design. Twenty plus guests learned some of the secrets of the floral design trade in selecting flowers, processing/conditioning and caring for floral arrangements. Sara and Shane, who led the workshop, taught the guests to incorporate this season’s hottest fashion trends into their designs while designers, Christina and Jacob, helped on the floor. The sweetest treat of the evening was from our good friend, Rebecca, from Ron Ben-Israel Cakes who brought scrumptious candy bar flavored mini cake bites for all to enjoy!

During this week’s Flower Workshop, “Spring Blooms,” our guests learned the tips and tricks of our trade to create their own spring-inspired floral designs. Guests were guided by our GM, Sara and Designer, Jacob, and worked with an with an array of hydrangea, calla lilies, orchids, roses, and of course super-springy tulips and hyacinths to create their own works of art. It was a fun night and each “designers’” masterpiece was definitely inspired by their unique personality. Check out some of the pictures of our workshop and please join us for our next one!   Email Courtney@flowersoftheworld.com for more information and workshop details.

‘Tis the Season

Christmas is the season of giving, and at Flowers of the World, we’re lucky to have so much we can give. This week, our talented staffers spread some cheer at the amazing Ronald McDonald House of New York, where some very special kids — and their families – call home while they brave childhood cancer.
We loved the gorgeous smiles and contagious laughter throughout the room, as moms, dads and children created fantastic festive arrangements with a little help from FOTW. Get inspired by the photos below, then visit the House and find out why it’s such a magical place.

Holiday Design

This week’s “Holiday Design” Flower Workshop was a huge hit; we were blown away by the creativity packed into the arrangements throughout the room. With Flowers of the World’s festive downtown studio as a backdrop, our December students incorporated seasonal elements into low, lush arrangements. Get inspired by some of the gorgeous results below, and sign up for one of our upcoming workshops to create your own arrangement!
