We had so much fun at last night’s Flower Workshop, Fashion-Forward Floral Design. Twenty plus guests learned some of the secrets of the floral design trade in selecting flowers, processing/conditioning and caring for floral arrangements. Sara and Shane, who led the workshop, taught the guests to incorporate this season’s hottest fashion trends into their designs while designers, Christina and Jacob, helped on the floor. The sweetest treat of the evening was from our good friend, Rebecca, from Ron Ben-Israel Cakes who brought scrumptious candy bar flavored mini cake bites for all to enjoy!

We are thrilled to have been featured in today’s amNew York’s Style Section in their “Orange Crush” feature highlighting two sultry shades as ”it” colors for Spring 2011. Fotw’s luxe arrangement of mango Calla Lilies and Desire Amaryllis popped on the page with fashionable finds from Oscar de la Renta, Lacoste and Burberry.

We hope Cindy loves her watch and we look forward to seeing everyone at both of our locations for more exciting promotions in the future.

Fashion Week Blooms

Fall has barely begun, but the fashion industry is looking forward to warmer weather, filling New York City’s runways this week with Spring 2011 designs. It wouldn’t be spring without a healthy dose of florals, and Flowers of the World was thrilled to see next season’s fashions bursting with beautiful blooms.

Some of our favorites included the accents at Marc Jacobs’ 70′s-style show (above), where models donned bold, oversized flowers in their hair and around their waists.

FOTW also loved classy Carolina Herrera’s vintage botanical prints (above) on ladylike shifts and pencil skirts alike. Always a study in femininity, Monique Lhuillier decorated her delicate spring silks with cherry blossoms (below), while her models strutted a catwalk backed by an oversized version of the floral print.

And at the fashion show for Jason Wu (below), who famously outfitted the first lady, flowers took the form of whimsical appliqués on girlish dresses and frothy adornments on smartly tailored suits.
