The haunted spirit is alive in our windows with Halloween just around the corner. This week FOTW created a dramatic and beautiful take on the spooky holiday. With a wonderful display of gorgeous Amaryllis, one of the most stunning flowers in season, along with our draped mummies, folks can’t help but steal a peak when walking by.

Our workshops are back in full swing at Flowers of the World! We had a great time with all of our guests on Tuesday night at our “Fall Flowers” themed-workshop. Many Gilt City guests joined us for the first of our Fall 2011 series. Sara, our GM, and our talented team of designers taught guests how to create their own fall floral design masterpieces. We worked with seasonal favorites such as Brassica and Amaryllis, as well as FOTW faves, such as Pincushion Protea, Calla Lilies, and Hydrangea in deep rich autumnal hues.
Our next workshop is a Level II, for more advanced guests, on Tuesday, November 8, from 6:30pm-8:30pm at our 110 Maiden Lane Studio.

We are thrilled to have been featured in today’s amNew York’s Style Section in their “Orange Crush” feature highlighting two sultry shades as ”it” colors for Spring 2011. Fotw’s luxe arrangement of mango Calla Lilies and Desire Amaryllis popped on the page with fashionable finds from Oscar de la Renta, Lacoste and Burberry.

We were so excited to have been a part of the 15th anniversary celebration for the NY Celebrity Assistants, New York’s premiere professional association of personal celebrity assistants. Flowers of the World designed the event this past weekend at the Beacon Restaurant using sophisticated peach Amaryllis and elegant coral swirl overlays with matching coral lamour linens to set the mood. Candles created a cozy atmosphere for guests to network and mingle, while they enjoyed signature cocktails such as the “Assistant’s Elixir.”
We love an elegant winter wedding in New York City… Our gorgeous bride, Ashley, and handsome groom, Peter, were married at Bridewaters in Lower Manhattan this past weekend. The talented team at Flowers of the World created a cool winter scene that expressed the couple’s contemporary vibe. Birch poles and soft chiffon were used to design a unique Chuppah and the arrangements were made up of swirling calla lilies, cascading orchids, full hydrangea and sophisticated amaryllis all
accented by silver gems. Lanterns created a romantic feel and the room was further accented with blue light which made the view of the Brooklyn Bridge and New York Harbor even more magical.
